Iranian short ‘Open Session’ to vie at Indian fest

Iranian short film ‘Open Session’ is to vie at the 2021 Smita Patil International filmfest in India.

Iranian short film ‘Open Session’ has been selected to compete at the 9th edition of the Smita Patil International Film Festival Documentaries & Shorts in India.

Directed and produced by Mohammad Hassani, the short film has a social theme.

The short film tries to find a solution for replacing vulgar words in colloquial language.

‘Open Session’ was filmed in a high school in Tehran and is now ready to go on screen in local and international film festivals.

The cast of the short film includes Mahdyar Malek, Shadmehr Soleimani, Ilia Salimi, Mohammad Taha Rezaee, Yasin Hasanzadeh, and Amir-Mohammad Gouran.

The Iranian short flick ‘Dabur’ is also scheduled to go on screen at the Indian festival.

Started in 2012, the Smita Patil aims to screen films from around the world and to promote underrepresented filmmakers.

The 2021 edition of the event will be held on December 18 and 19.
